 Introduction

You may have seen that when you see chocolate you immediately pick it up and eat it without making decisions in the conscious part of the mind it happens automatically especially when it's your favorite chocolate have you tried to figure out the reasons for it if not we will discuss it today.

The Habit Loop

The answer to the question above is the habit loop is discussed briefly in the book Power of Habit. According to the book, there are three parts in the habit loop they are 

1)Cue 

2)Routine 

3) Reward 

Habit Loop


To understand it more deeply we are going to take the above example in point :

1) Cue

 When you see the chocolate it's the cue for your brain to execute to routine.

 2) Routine 

When you get a cue of something the routine automatically gets executed without the decision on the conscious mind.

 3) Reward

 The third and the important part is the reward when you take above the taste and the chemical realized in the brain after eating the chocolate is the reward and your brain seeks more and more of the reward and the process becomes your habit slowly and as the habit are stored in your basal ganglia part you don't need to make decisions in the conscious mind to execute the routine.


Conclusion

Habits are one of the most important factors in our life habits can change our life completely. As habits are stored in basal ganglia the person with damaged hippocampus can also form habits so we need to be aware of our habits.
